Girls Scout sleepover on your anniversary?! The universe is just being cruel, now. ;) I went to Hawaii a few years ago and I honestly just wasn't particularly thrilled with it. So much of it is so commercial now that it's not much different from LA. About the only things that were really worth seeing were Pearl Harbor and the volcanoes. But we only did Oahu, Maui, and Hawaii proper, none of the smaller islands so those might be a bit nicer. Personally, if you want to go to a tropical paradise, I'd recommend the Riviera Maya; if you stay within 50 miles of Cancun you can have the tropical paradise and the option of a large metropolitan area without the city actually encroaching on you. Plus it's cheaper and the resorts are all-inclusive, which totally rocks.
The new house looks like it's going to be amazing! I bet you can't wait till it's ready. :)
I really, really can't. Every day, something happens, and I think, "In the new house, I'll have someplace to put that, lol."
Craig's the one leaning more toward Hawaii, to be honest. I don't do well in sunshine because of burning so easily, and I'd like to lose a little bit more weight before venturing out in public in a swimsuit, lol. But we've done NYC before, numerous times, and it feels like we should try something new. We just haven't been able to figure out what, since we don't want to be gone for more than a week.
Wow, that's going to be a beautiful house. I'm all jealous and stuff. I have one of those "I'm a poor, starving artist" apartments complete with a roommate. *frown*
Oh, well, I can live vicariously through this one. ;) Kinda like in "One Hour Photo", right?
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PICK HAWAII. Seriously. The weather in NYC during July is possibly the most disgusting thing ever. There's nothing but relentless heat and humidity, lasting well after sunset. And woe betide the unwary tourist who takes the subway at high noon, when the platforms heat up to about 110 degrees. Plus, everything smells.
In conclusion, HAWAII HAWAII HAWAII. There are beaches. Gorgeous beaches free of medical waste! Beautiful clear water that is actually capable of sustaining sea life!
I know Hawaii is going to be prettier and nicer weatherwise, but I can't be out for very long in the sun without being in agony. That's why Hawaii hasn't been an automatic choice already. My argument is if we go, we should go when the kids would go because then he'd be able to do more stuff instead of being stuck inside with me a good part of the time. On the other hand, part of me thinks being in agony would be worth how pretty it is. Hence, being so torn, lol.

Sorry to hear about your mom. I hope they find out it's treatable and/or manageable.

I like seeing how fast it's going up, but I want to move now, lol. It's like a summer long tease.
