Craig is home again, and all is right with the world.

Three day weekend, beautiful weather, we actually have plans for Valentines this year...I'd say life is pretty darn good at the moment. The little things. That's what matters.

ETA: Oh, and today, Pepper and I are talking about Is there such a thing as *too* much sex? over at It Takes Two, ( Read more... )

Isn't she pretty in it? I love that icon and don't get to use it nearly enough.

I read through the part you and Pepper did. *shrugs* Can a book or story have too much sex for me? Yeah, absolutely, if it feels gratuitous or there's so much of it that I start skipping it to find the plot bits. But, a book that is being presented as an erotic romance? - Um, wouldn't that kind of be the very definition of a book that is going to contain a lot of sex? I don't see how a book like that can have too much sex, unless it is nothing but an overly long pwp (do they have those in the real publishing world?)that isn't holding the reader's interest because there isn't enough romance to go with the erotica. That would be the only circumstances under which I would think someone who bought the book might feel they had something to complain about.

Yes, they do have those in the e-publishing world. At one point, at least one of the pubs (not one I'm with, thankfully) had it a rule that sex had to appear in the first chapter, even.

I think my definition is more skewed. I don't think of erotic romance as being about sex. For me, it just means not closing the door when you get to the sex. Unfortunately, I seem to be in the minority with that belief.

Ah. Well, I totally agree with the minority opinion.lol Graphic, well-presented sex in a story or book can certainly add to the reader's ability to understand the relationship between the characters and feels more realistic than a "fade to black" kind of thing; but I can see where someone who is attracted to a genre because of the erotica, might want to see more of it than is necessary or appropriate for that particular story. You'd think, though, that they would just go straight for the pwp if that's what they wanted ( ... )
