Up at 5:30 again. I think Pepper is getting tired of me falling asleep on her by 9:30/10pm. But we got 6k written yesterday on our new book, and I got 1k written on my new solo title, so it's not like the day was a wash, right ( Read more... )

Tbe exchange rate is so horrible for us statesiders. While I was there I limited myself to getting stuff I knew I wouldn't be able to get back home. I saw an awesome pair of chucks but there was no way I was paying $80 for them.

I was in Barnes & Nobles last night and saw yours and Pepper's book. I went and front faced it.

Woo hoo! Thank you!!

sadbhyl called me the other night to say she'd found them at her B&N. Today's the first chance I can get out and find it in ours. We left for the UK the week they showed up here so I didn't get to see it on the shelves.

The exchange rate is just killer. The only things I brought back were things I knew I couldn't get over here, or I'd spend enough on shipping to make the exchange rate negligible. Though there was a ton of Christmas Who stuff that had me wondering if people could find them over here. Probably on ebay or something.

Well the calendars, mugs with cocoa (which I still wish I had gotten), magazines and some of the books are/were worth getting there since they can't be found online aside from Ebay or are way expensive at WhoNa.com. I still wish I had gotten the Utopia figure set while I was there because it's out of stock in the states and I really want a Jacobi-Master.

I ended up buying another bag for all my grocery items as those were cheaper to get there than back home at World Market. Except luggage broke by jar of Branston pickle and everything ended up smelling like that.

We actually got our luggage torn apart by immigration at SFO because of the baked beans we brought back.

"But baked beans has animal fat in it!"

"Only in this country."

They still insisted on standing there and reading the damn labels on the cans. Oy.

Oh I don't know... the exchange rate seems ok from this side of the pond! Looking at a price, then halving it is wonderful!! Having said that, we do pay over the top for things generally.

A friend of mine has just come back from a holiday in the States. She took a suitcase full of clothes she had sorted out for the charity shop on the way out, donated them all to a charity shop there and bought all new for the holiday. If they had all been in the packing, Customs could have been a bit funny about it, but as she brought them all home as dirty washing, not a problem... and saved an absolute fortune!!

Oh, yeah, the exchange rate coming the other way is phenomenal! The kids cleaned up with getting money in pounds for Christmas and birthdays. They were all excited that they had double what they had been given. :)
