Strange opening, or what do you think about the huge necklaces and the body-pants? The opening song was a perfect opener though, then we had a lot of blandness until - wohoo - my favorite with her day-glow-bandages turned up! And then more blandness until Australia turned up right now ( Read more... )

I really loved the opening, as I'm a huge fan of Electronic Dance Music. I was so pleased they show cased Swedish EDM: Aviici, Alesso, Swedish House Mafia.

Our night was very focused on eating the ridiculous amount of Lebanese food we bought. We were also both very disappointed with the winner. Australia and Russia were both worthy winners, IMO.

I really liked what Justin Timberlake had to say in the Green Room to the artist. And even though I don't really like his music, I understand that he was a big "get" for Eurovision.

The "template ESC winner"-act was very fun, IMO. All in all it's been a well-produced show.

The "pause" act was a highlight in the show in my view. :) And I wouldn't mind if Australia had won.

Jury did everything possible to trash obvious favorite Russia and put Ukraine and Australia as high as they only could. Australia is out of place in Eurovision. Worst Eurovision of all times and sadly this is the beginning of the end if nothing change imediately.

I truly didn't notice Russia's song until it started to rise on the charts, so I don't agree on it as an obvious winner.

But I do think some changes would be for the better. And as for the worst... I didn't like many of the songs this year, but that has happened before (and is almost a staple of the contest). But I did like the new voting system that kept the tension right up to the ending. So there's that at least.

Just because you didn't notice something doesn't mean Russia was not an obvious winner! In fact, it was by people televoting. Then some of the juries' vote in respect to Russia and some other countries rose many eyebrows last night. Moldova, Georgia, Serbia juries (just to name a few) giving 0 points to Russia while Russia won televote in these countries. Seriously? The winning song surpassed Russian entry by 42 points only and that is why jury vote was so important to prevent Russia from winning. If EBU want to get more impartial results either the impact the jury has should be reduced by splitting votes, let's say, 25% jury:75% viewers or alternatively jury should be comprised of non-participating countries from Vietnam to Venezuela or something.

Well, to be fair, Israel isn't in Europe, either. If Israel can be there, then why not Australia?

Personally, I thought that Australia had a wonderful voice, and I loved her song. I also liked Russia's song a lot, but I preferred Australia's. I didn't care for Ukraine's song in the Semis, but thought she did better in the Final. Still, I wouldn't have placed her so high.
