You could try flying into London, Frankfurt or Amsterdam, and then catching a cheap flight through RyanAir or JetBlue, or take the train perhaps (though it might be as pricy as a direct flight and you'd lose some time). DTW is Northwest Airline's hub, that should save you some $$...

We're doing a similar route getting to Italy. Chicago - London - Milan (london - milan via RyanAir is about $15 high-end). Otherwise, most scandanavian destinations tend to be a bit pricy, in my experience.

Good luck!

I second the London suggestion. Everyone flies there and you can transfer to Luton or Stanstead where you can fly Ryanair or Easyjet for just a few quid. Check out http://www.easyjet.com...they fly directly into Copenhagen from STN.

Exactly what I was going to say, and exactly what a friend of mine is doing. I've even slept in STN before and it wasn't too bad :)

how much would i be paying to fly from STN to Copenhagen?

right now a direct flight from detroit, michigan to copenhagen is about a $1000 US.

Go to the web site (http://www.easyjet.com), plug in your dates, and you'll get the fare.

All you'd have to do from there is get the lowest fare from Detroit to London (Northwest would probaby be your best bet).

Be advised that the trip from LHR > LTN is heinous...like 2 hours of transit time across London. Leave ample connection time between your Detroit > LHR and LTN > CPH flights.

via london you can fly into malmo sweden (right across the bridge) through ryanair, or copenhagen airport via easyjet.
if you can get a good deal into berlin, the berlin/cph bus (www.eurolines.dk) is fabulous.
