Backpacking in Germany

I am planning a trip to Germany next year and want to camp for most of it in an effort to save money. I plan to go along the Neckar and Rhine and visit as many castles/ruins as I can. Because of this I will be walking just about everywhere. My first concern is safety, of couse. Will I be ok sleeping in a tent alone (I am female and will be 23 next ( Read more... )

I can only speak for the campground in Koblenz, but that one is really safe. Especially in the summer, when there are lots of families staying there. The location of it is also rather lovely, since it's opposed to the "Deutsches Eck" with a phenomenal view of the fortress Ehrenbreitstein ( ... )

(I never thought I'd see my tiny hometown Andernach mentioned anywhere on LJ. :D) I haven't been to the geysir myself yet, but I've only heard great things about the tour they're offering.

If you are in the Andernach area and looking for a campingground to stay at, I'd recommend the one at Laacher See. The lake is beautiful and if you fancy a swim in the summer, this is the place to go.

Tiny? Compared to the village I live in, I'd consider Andernach to be an urban and exciting city ;)
