Going to spend 2 and a half days in Reykjavik with my husband in late April. Looking for any advice on budget accommodations and any advice on what not to miss in Reykjavik and environs if you have only 60 hours.

*accommodations, !question(s), *hotels, ^trip planning, ^on a budget, ^tourist attractions, ^museums, iceland: reykjavik

The Golden Circle contains the big three sites (Geysir, Gull Foss, Tingvillar [and yeah, spelling on this last one is off])to see from Reykjavik. There are package tours or you can rent a car. Outside of the city is some of the most amazing countryside in the world.

Enjoy!

I'll second the Golden Circle (go for a package tour for ease) and add the Blue Lagoon. In Reykjavik itself, I recommend the National Museum of Iceland - it was fascinating.

Unfortunately Reykjavik is the least exciting place in Iceland. Golden Circle is probably as far as you can go, but all really good stuff is way off, and 2 days is not nearly enough. But yeah, do the Golden Circle and Blue lagoon, for sure.

Where else would you suggest then, beyond Reykjavik?

Classic is to make a circle along the coast. Wonderful place to go to it West Fjords. Some of the most exciting attractions are within easy reach from Akureyri, so that would make a better base than Reykjavik.
