We were thinking about three months, so roughly 5/6 days in each place. Would that be enough time to see what we need to do you think?

Awesome thanks for that. Also any idea on how far in advance we should book where were staying? Should we do it all before we leave or can we do it over there a few weeks in advance?

1. Your itinerary is quite ambitious. I don't know how long you have for your vacation, but I'd STRONGLY suggest cutting out about half those destinations. You're looking at covering Europe north to south and east to west, and it takes a lot longer to do that than it might look like on a map ( ... )

Thanks for the tips, looks like in some of the places (Norway) we'll only stay a few days if it's going to drain our funds.

I'm probably not much help on the specifics, but for places in the North (Berlin, Norway, Stockholm, etc.) - BRING WOOL SOCKS. And make sure that your shoes are sensible and waterproof. Boots, if possible. Basically, in winter here in Berlin, if it's not raining, it's snowing, and if it's not snowing, it's so cold that your snot freezes. It also gets dark around 3 pm in the middle of winter, so...that's fun. :D

The sort of other clothes you will need will probably depend on what sort of a winter we're having here - occasionally it will be relatively mild, and you won't need long underwear to be outside. But in any case, dress in layers. On a normal winter day here, I wear jeans, a tank top, a t-shirt, a long-sleeved shirt, a heavy sweater, and a coat (plus the standard socks-plus-wool-socks combo and boots). A scarf and hat/hood are also pretty essential.

Don't be discouraged by the cold weather, though. :) Winter is the best time to see some of those cities, since there are very few other tourists!

Thanks, I think the winter is going to be a major shock at first. But then again thats the whole point of going in holiday, to experience something new lol.

I want to second what sovietkitsch said about not renting a car. Especially if you aren't use to the cold weather and the snow that goes along with it, renting a car in the winter could actually be a pretty dangerous idea ( ... )
