Stockholm and Sweden

Mar 15, 2010 22:01

What kinds of recommendations can you make for visiting Sweden? Is a weekend in Stockholm worth it, or should I go the extra bit and see more of the country in a week? Any recommendations for cities to see aside from Stockholm? I'm trying to decide if a weekend trip is worth it, basically, or if I should save my stirling for a longer trip.

sweden, sweden: stockholm, !question(s), ^where should i go (in...)

This is the third time you have posted without paying mind to the tags. Next time your post will not be accepted without them. Please refer to the tagging guide if you are unsure, for all future posts. Thank you.

You tagged "sweden" which is only a portion of the tags you should have had. As I said, if you need help with knowing what tags to use, check the tagging guide (it's linked on the sidebar of the comm, and possibly on the info page, I forget right now), it explains the system for the comm.

I've been to Stockholm! Only for three days, but I did find it a rather beautiful place. I visited the Vasa Museum, which was interesting, toured the city and checked out some culture. The people are very friendly, and simply walking through the streets is a reward in itself.

To tell the truth, I also liked the fact that Stockholm and the minute other parts I saw of Sweden reminded me of home. (From Northern Ontario, Canada)I guess that can steer you off it, but it was a refreshing thing to see that, really, Europe is not too different from home.

I definitely recommend you visit Stockholm, if only to see its beauty.

Go To Stockholm! I spent 5 days there and wish I had spent more. It's an AMAZING place. I'd go back in a heartbeat. As for where else to go, check out Uppsala, Umea, Mora, Goteborg, and Jonkopping. I've only been to Mora and Jonkopping (SO pretty) but I hear good things about the others as well.

Besides the historic center Stockholm itself there are many interesting suburbs with parks and palaces around the town. In the summer you can reach some of them by a ship from the center.

No matter how many days will you spend in the Swedish capital for the first time, three ones or five or more. But you will want to go back there again.

Stockholm is lovely! I was there for a work trip and spent a week there. There are lots to see but a weekend should be enough for you to see the major sights. It is a very compact city and very walkable. Other further places are well connected by the train lines so you shouldn't have a problem travelling around. The people are lovely too. Have a good trip.
