My husband and I are contemplating going to Athens in a couple weeks, for probably about 6 days. Has anyone been there? We enjoy going to museums and seeing architecture and just experiencing the culture of places, rather than partying and such ( Read more... )

I came back from Athens a week ago! I can't recommend you much in terms of sites and hotels but what I can tell you is that you couldn't have picked a better time to visit! Seriously, you'll have a blast because you'll have the tourist sights pretty much all to yourself, and the weather's fantastic. It didn't rain once. I didn't love everything about Athens but make sure you spend some time in the old town, it's so charming.

How many nights did you stay in Athens, and did you take any day trips out? I've booked for 6 nights in Athens but I'm tempted to make overnight trips out.
