To Glasgow or not to Glasgow!

Sep 01, 2009 21:40

I'm heading to Scotland for a week or so next week, and will be spending a day or two in Edinburgh and a few days in the highlands. The question! Should I go to Glasgow for a day (from Edinburgh) or spend an extra day in Edinburgh? What is there to do in Glasgow? Or any other places which are better for a day trip from Edinburgh?

^what should i do in..., !question(s), scotland: edinburgh

Haven't been to Glasgow, but I love Edinburgh and would definitely recommend spending as much time as possible there. If you want a day excursion (well, half-day really), you could go to Rosslyn Chapel, in the town of Roslin near Edinburgh. It is quite beautiful. And I hope your trip in the Highlands is more than just Loch Ness/Inverness, since there's lots to see here! :)

If you only have 1-2 days for Edinburgh, I would skip Glasgow and make it 2-3 days instead. I've been to both cities and while Glasgow is worth a short visit, Edinburgh is worth a long stay.

I would skip Glasgow- Edinburgh is a gorgeous city. It has lots of nice architecture and there's lots to do there.. it definitely deserves more than a day.

i've heard a worthy trip around Edinburgh is to see the William Wallace Monument in Stirling.

Glasgow is interesting because it contrasts so much with Edinburgh, in my opinion. Edinburgh has a more medieval feel to it, while Glasgow is more modern. So, whichever appeals to you more. :) The only two things I really explored in-depth in Glasgow were the cathedral and the Kelvingrove Museum.
