Huh. I wonder what the hell they will talk about, because interviewers asked about G/A incessantly, and no matter who they asked it sounded to me like the subject the actors least wanted to talk about. ... Slash goggles?
No, definitely not slash goggles. Bradley doesn`t really seem all that sold on the idea, that`s for sure. It`s so painfully obvious every time he talks about Arthur/Gwen. I`m not saying he hates it or anything, but he clearly doesn`t like talking about it...
I guess not...though that's not exactly going to translate well (and hasn't translated well thus far) into all the A/G scenes then. I don't know how Angel feels about the whole thing, but Bradley's so damn transparent all the time, and I just get the sense that he's not sold on it at all. They're not exactly going to be able to convince the audience of an "epic romance" if at least 50% of the actors involved in said romance don't even really support.
But yes, I also hope that doesn't mean there's less of Bradley in the commentaries. Of course, if all they're blathering on about is A/G anyway, then I don't think I'll be listening either way :P.
I do too! Will the love never die??? I have such ridiculous hopes of Michael coming on the show in the finale episodes of this season and rocking the evil CLex so hard.
*rolls eyes* If they actually decide to release crap based only around the EPIC FAILURE that was the Arthur/Gwen stuff, I`m going to be royally pissed off. Seriously. I`ve never seen so much FAIL EVER!!! Stupid.....:P
I`m just praying we get some video diaries. Otherwise, seriously....not impressive at all :P
I don't know why they would think it's interesting? It's a regular old love triangle and not a very spicy one at that. There is hardly any chemistry and certainly no big mystery or reveal to be had.
See, for me, I love when shows go where the chemistry is. Or, at the very least, don't try and force chemistry where there isn't any. At the end of watching last season - before I really got involved in fandom at all, so my opinion was much more unbiased - I thought that A/G was the least compelling of all the options and I honestly didn't get the impression that they were going to go that route because it didn't seem like there was anything there. I can see them as being friends maybe. But some sort of romance with chemistry and passion and stuff? Yeah, no. Most definitely not.
The dumb thing is that on the other hand, Gwen had TONS of chemistry with Lancelot. I was actually surprised, because I was ready to be like, "This is just as fake as the A/G stuff." But then it wasn't. And I liked it. A LOT.
Maybe the writers could have sold me on it eventually, if they'd handled it in a less OOC manner. As it is, I've actually rejected all of that garbage as canon, because I actually believe is is just that OOC that I can't
( ... )
I, too, think that's how writers ruin shows, if they strictly adhere to some idea and the chemistry is just not there to support it. Now I realise in Merlin their hands are a bit tied because they do have to tick certain boxes. But I maintain that A/G is very much a King Arthur story, not a Prince Arthur one. It's great to have Gwen (and I do like Angel in the part very much), but why not build her character, give her something to do. Let her evolve and then maybe at the end of the series go in the A/G direction. And yes, she did have good chemistry with Lancelot.
