FINALLY started reading "Island"....it's really good so far and I can't help seeing Colin every time Calum appears. Especially when I picture Calum smiling. Can't wait for the movie!
I read Island about a month ago, it was good. I can also totally see Colin as Calum except he's supposed to have messed up teeth and being a bit ugly. I can't tell if that' real or just Nikki's negative impression that clouds the book. I've looked at The Sea Change on Facebook and I think that principal photography is done and they want to go back and shoot some b-footage maybe... I can't really tell. Looks like they're working on editing it now though.
One post says that they will finish shooting extra footage in April but in May someone went up to scout out if all the props were still in place so... it sounds like a question of getting more funding to do post-production now. Even when it finally comes out it will probably be impossible to see, ugh!
I remembered reading something about Colin's schedule being a problem and I found it (from February):
We have spent the majority of our time on the film working out the details of the budget: both costs to date and future spend. The strategy for raising completion funds is multi-stranded with all of us busy pursuing one or other. The six minute promo has been working its magic but it’s clearly time to get cracking on the main assembly as this will inform our 6 days of additional photography. Fitting these days around Colin Morgan’s availability as he heads on to his second series of Merlin in Wales and France is another major juggle.
So... who knows? I would think continuity would be tough with him being skinnier and having different hair although I guess men can grow short hair pretty quick. I think it would be hard for Colin to do anything until late, late fall since he's in so much of Merlin and getting a block of days to go to a remote island would be tough.
Maybe they'll try to get Colin on one of his few days off from filming Merlin. Poor overworked boys. With his hair, maybe they can give him mini extensions (hey, they did with Clark on Smallville).
As for Calum's appearance, I'm just ignoring the bad teeth and the wonky eye. From the set photos I've seen, it doesn't look like they changed Colin's teeth in anyway. He actually looks quite dashing.
And yeah access to the movie is going to be difficult, but I'm sure a dedicated Merlin fan will find a way to bring it to us ;)
The stills I saw it looked like Calum had shorter hair than Merlin. Can you imagine needing extensions for Merlin! Bradley would have a field day with that.
Colin does look dashing as Calum, especially in that lovely green scarf. I want to see the little trailer they've put together to get more funding. It looks like the film will be really beautiful and atmospheric.
I'm half way through so far and its fascinating. I want to see how Colin plays the character of Calum sooo bad. I bet he's brilliant. *not biased at all* ;)
Bradley surely gave him private lessons. Hours of study. I really want to see this movie now, Colin is such a great actor, I can't wait to see what he does with the role.
