Merlin 1.0 was even gayer

"ON YOUR KNEES" <---------That's what Arthur said to Merlin in the original draft of "Dragon's Call" right after meeting him for the first time. *CRIES FOR CUT LINE*

ALSO THIS DIRECTION: Merlin -"I could take you apart with less than that."
Arthur -"Are you sure?"

ARTHUR SMILES AND TEARS OFF HIS TOP. ( Read more... )

I'm innocent, I only followed links and found the draft! ;)

I haven't read it all the way yet either, will be my bedtime reading tonight.

And yeah the ripped like 50 cent is only a direction for he actors and sooooo LULZY. I wonder if Bradley got to see this draft.

Haha, we always knew it had to be toned down! Now we know how! LOL!

Although I am kinda glad Arthur did not rip his top off. Not that it wouldn't have been enjoyable but still, it wouldn't have fit *lol*. Probably a very unpopular opinion but there you have it anyway ;P But I cannot believe it actually says "He's ripped like 50 Cent" in the script! LMAO!

Hmmm, if he would have said "On your knees!" to Merlin the same way he says it to Lancelot I would have imploded! Because HOLYSHITGUH!!!

And yes, prat is better XD

As much as I love our boys shirtless, it would have been such an absurd scene if the shirt-ripping had taken place... (BUT THE IMAGE OF IT!)

The "on you knees" bit...some of us fangirls would not have survived. I think when they saw the kinda insane chemistry Bradley and Colin had they figured that line would be too much. CURSE THEM! ;)

The image is VERY enjoyable indeed!

I am going all wibbly just imagining it, so I probably would have never made it past the first episode, and that would have been such a shame. And not good for the show if they would have killed many of us off with only the first meeting of the boys ;)

But is it really the original?
Some things just strike me as 'off', and er, as much as I enjoy topless Bradley, tearing his shirt off randomly 5min. into the series?
It certainly would have prevented me from taking it 'seriously'.

I can't vouch for the veracity of the draft. I haven't read it all the way yet, but it seems like it could have been an early version.

But yeah the shirt-tearing off sounds very strange. Maybe they were going for a even more comedic approach?
I think all the changes were probably for the best, although I still do mourn the "on your knees" line.

Well, I had a look and it seems very similar to the one for Excalibur they host at the BBC Writer's Room.
It just sounds very different, less well written in my opinion, but that might be because it's a first version. Same writer though.

Re: that one - looks like they cut quite a few Gwen/Morgana scenes...

You know, I do wonder, if the writers sent BBC the script for Excalibur, then why didn't they also send the pilot episode? I dunno, it seems very fishy. I don't completely believe in the validality of the man who hosts all those scripts on his website. For all we know, he found the script on some random website and took it for the real deal and posted it.

Okay, most things that were changed were changed for the better. Though I have to admit, that I'd loved to see Arthur push Merlin to his knees *snickers*
