What are your thoughts on yaoi?

Following all the hullabaloo SPN's "slash" scene caused in fandom (and glorious entertaining wank), it got me thinking what Bradley and Colin really think about the slashers.

From this interview we know they are aware of that majority particular fanbase and don't seem to mind too much.

Prince Arthur actor Bradley is delighted fans have picked up ( Read more... )

I don't watch SPN, but how did this happen in the show? It's like a tease or something?

It was actually part of an elaborate (and really good) plot.
The boys find out that a guy (Chuck) has been writing books about their entire lives. (the plots come to him in violent dreams) When he meets them and realises they are real he thinks he is a god...turns out he is a prophet.
Anyway the "books" that he writes have a small fandom following and people write fanfic about them...it was all gloriously meta.
The writers chose this episode to poke some fun at the fans, but also at themselves...they reference some really badly written previous episodes.
This would be like Merlin and Arthur finding out that someone in a faraway land is writing the tales of Merlin and Arthur and that those tales have a following.

I see. I can only see this happens in Merlin DVD extras, but not on the show itself. And I am sure both Bradley and Colin are aware of the existence of the slash fandom. And Katie and Angel being fangirls is a bonus to us.

No definitely not on the show *sobs*, but a shout-out on the VDs would be beyond awesome...but then again we already kinda got on in the commentaries for "the moment of truth"

So in addition to be being completely and secretly gay for Colin, Bradley is a huge fangirl.

Ah, Bradley. Just when I think you can't be more dorky and more awesome. *marvels*

TRUFAX! I know Colin stays off the internet, but Bradley probably won't be able to resist googling.

You know it. He spends his free time looking for Merlin porn.

He so would be just the type to print it out and tease Colin with it.
I bet he enjoys all the endless descriptions of his manly beauty as well.

I thought that scene in SPN was TEH BEST EVAR!!! So hilarious and so true.

And BJ is such a fangirl, he knows what's going on.

It's just the question how he would react, if at a convention a fangirl (completely demented and sick fangirl) actually asked him whether he was doing Colin.

Oh god, I really would die from second-hand embarrassment if that happened. A little teasing and wink wink, nudge, nudge is okay, but a fangirl should never ask directly.

SPN writers/producers are sooo awesome for putting that scene in there. I do believe it is the first time slash was mentioned on network television.

I actually think he read and wrote fanfic...preferably Spuffy

Nah, I see him as more of a secret Spike/Angel slasher myself *g*

Bradley probably liked to imagine himself as Spike...;)
