Am I the only one who is completely surprised that Crash won best picture tonight?!

I thought it was definitely one of the low contenders of the night... but then again, I've often been wrong about the Best Picture awards, so don't go by me. I was, however, extremely excited that Philip Seymour Hoffman won for Best Actor! If he hadn't won, I think

No, you're definitly not, I think most people were expecting Brokeback Mountain to win.

Yes! XD; I was definitely expecting either Crash or Brokeback Mountain to win. But Brokeback Mountain had its moments in glory, and I felt that we shouldn't overlook Crash, which is a SPECTACULAR film. So I'm very glad it won.

Hehe I also liked the March of the Penguins guys with the penguin plushies. XD;

Some articles claim there was an "audible gasp" in the auditorium when "Crash" won but I don't remember hearing anything. BUT I DO think that there was a wave of shock throughout the audience. The "Brokeback" cast & crew definitely looked like they were taken aback. Very unsure of the underlying reasons beneath the BM loss, some are arguing that the Academy didn't want to completely ignore the conservative right by awarding a film with gay themes. Makes you thiknk.
