The kitchen gadget meme!!!

From juniperus. Given's T.'s strong opinions about kitchenware, I have a feeling our list will be unusual.

Bold the ones you have and use at least once a year, italicize the ones you have and don't use, strike through the ones you have had but got rid of, capitalize the ones you covet.

I wonder how many pasta machines, bread makers, ( Read more... )

Did you get your house (to hold all these assorted gadgets and doodads)?

*headdesk*

Yeah, I keep meaning to post about that. Short version: No. The sellers kept being unreasonable, to the point where we finally said, okay, we're lucky to be out of this one.

The irony is that they phrased everything in terms of "WAH, we want to make sure our beloved house is taken care of!", but their actions clearly indicated that they cared f&%$-all about what happened to the house and were imply trying to get out of foreclosure and bankruptcy with as much as they could.

The house was foreclosed upon last week; at some point in the indeterminate future (during which the house will sit unoccupied some MORE) they will auction it off for cash to whoever wants to make a buck off it. This makes us sad--we can't pay cash, but hope it finds a good home. As it were.

Oh well.

The present (newly renovated!) kitchen will do nicely for gadget-holding. For now.

Isn't it crazy that in the end, they'll probably get less than they would have, but you're lucky to be quit of the crazy situation.

Newly renovated kitchens are nice things, oh yes they are.

Don't know about FL or this particular situation, but the foreclosure we bought did not go to cash auction. We got a conventional (sort of - affordable housing program) mortgage to get it. We just dealt with the bank listing the place instead of the owners (who were completely gone by the time we came into the situation). Banks typically go with "as is, and we don't negotiate on anything except a narrow window on price and closing costs," which has its virtues and problems. And they want you to hurry up and wait, and you aren't in a position of power. But it can work out, so you might want to keep an eye out for this place as a listing.
