People took such awful chances with chemicals and their
bodies because they wanted the quality of their lives to improve.
They lived in ugly places where there were only ugly
things to do. They didn't own doodly-squat, so they couldn't
improve their surroundings. So they did their best to make
their insides beautiful instead.

So i've been spending alot of time volunteering and hanging out in the mission. It's been a blast, but I'm trying to find a balance between that, music and school...I think I'm moving to India. We need to hang out in the city, rock climb, write some shit, relax a little, look at some art (I volunteered at this art exhibit yesterday) and maybe do some dancing? Whatever you wish, but I tihnk you'd like to do some of the stuff that i've been doing. glad to hear you're trying to improve yourself. There was a powow today in oakland and possibly another one coming soon if you wanna go.

aly, i have a sneaking suspicion that you were in a twisted frame of mind when you wrote this and you are underestimating yourself. You are by far the most uniquely creative person I know.

On an unrelated note, I want you to know that I miss you. I know that sounds a bit homo, but without you last summer, it would have been pretty bad. You are constantly flowing with so much energy that I often ponder the source....you are astonishingly caring about acquaintances, friends, and even strangers, that for someone as cynical as me who has given up on humanity (essentially), I feel a nice strong ray of hope for the future of our society. Even when you are running on little sleep, you've still got that "alyson" feeling that for lack of better word can only be described as "unique". You are cool, and I'm not the only one who thinks so. : )

i've already backed up all my blogs from everywhere. i have the old desktop up here; i actually had an offline journal on it. re-reading old writings is amazing. whenever i read old shit i'm always surprised at my then-capacity for writing, and i always lament where i presently find myself. days back then were dark, and filled with teenage hate... some turbulent catalysts for good art and words. i think i've found that my recent days have been punctuated by apathy and boredom, and dare i say, the occasional contentedness. which basically equals no creation. unfortunately. but anyway... i've since resolved many times to try and be a more prolific artist. the thing that sucks about the block is that you really have no power to move it.

i'll call j00 lat0rz. to see how the birfday shenanigans went.

also, ps: found hilaridad pics and vids of nik on the desktop. must figure out a way to get them to you.
