Summary: They’d tried running; always moving, chasing one hunt after another, but it didn’t help so they decided to stand still for a while. Even standing still doesn’t help them run from their past. Coda for that break between My Bloody Valentine and Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid.

Notes: There were three major inspirations for this story. One, Sam's revelation at the end of Sam, Interrupted. It was the first time he'd acknowledged that most of his anger was pointless and that it helped no one, especially not himself. I thought it was a big turning point for him and I'm sorry the writers didn't (get a chance to) explore this futher. The second inspiration was hearing Everlast's cover of Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues and having this instant picture in my head of how Dean would react. Thirdly, I wondered what would happen if Dean ever met someone he'd tortured in Hell. It would have to be a real punch to the gut. This is my attempt to blend these three, completely disparate ideas, into one entity. I hope you enjoy it. [25 Oct 2010]
The soundtrack was heavily inspired by listening to my local university's student-run, low-powered radio station. They played everything... often in odd combinations. If you're interested in the alternative and you have a university or college nearby, check out their radio station. You'll probably find stuff you've never heard before.
