[OTA] Finding new haunts

Remy was finding it harder and harder to spend time anywhere at the resort that wasn't his room or the roof. He didn't feel like himself, he was hardly eating, and still hadn't found his way anywhere remotely near a razor. He had showered though, albeit briefly before crawling into bed the night before and spending the night staring at the dark ( Read more... )

It was Rogue's first shift at the Cocktail Bar. She'd taken Rob's advice, and somehow her alone time on the beach had had her applying for a new job. She hadn't been lying to Remy when she said she was done with the club. It hurt to think she'd never set foot in the place again, but it was a change that really should have happened a while ago. That was the change she had been talking about, not leaving Remy. A dancer and a club owner was a scenario that should have only lasted for so long. Rogue had started at the club because of Remy, and maybe once she'd hooked him, she should have stopped. There was a slight addiction in taking her clothes off for men that were never going to touch her, all in front of a man who was jealous enough to hurt any of the patrons if they did touch her ( ... )

Remy almost didn't notice the cracking sound. It only just stabbed his distracted mind and he glanced up, probably not even expecting to lay his eyes on much. But he did. Of course he did. And he just stared at her, his mouth hanging open a little. That churning in his stomach that had progressed well beyond nausea was back just at seeing her. He went to push off the bar stool again, but his foot got caught on the stainless steel foot rest and forced him to sitback down heavily or otherwise fall on his arse. "I'll go," he said blankly, and tried to wrestle the edge of his heavy boot from the foot rest.

"No, no... it's okay. You're allowed to be here. You don't have to go. This isn't even really my area, but I don't like just standing around doin' nothin' so I thought I'd clear some glasses." Rogue gave a little shrug as she set her tray down, and reached over the bar to get a napkin so she could stem the flow of blood from her cut. "Just let me take care of this, and then I'll be outta ya way. I won't bother ya. I didn't mean to interrupt."

Remy's red eyes were still on her as he nodded, but there was barely any movement in it. He pushed his hair out of his eyes and knew he should probably straighten his posture a little, but the slump was much easier these days when everything felt so heavy. "Interrupt what?" he found himself saying before he could stop the words falling out of his mouth.
