Yay Jhegaala! (I found that I missed the Empire setting and Morrolan, it's been, like, three? two? books without Morrolan, dammit!, but really liked how the unfamiliar setting makes Vlad realize certain things.)

I'm trying to remember whether I've read Atrix Wolf and I don't know... I always have this problem with McKillip's books. I really enjoy them when reading, and then am left with only a vague dreamlike impression of them, and can never match up plots with characters with titles etc.

Need to catch up on the Lukyanenko books, and finally read The Graveyard Book and some Cherryh...

I actually liked that it was outside the Empire, I was curious about the human lands. And sorry I don't like Morrolan as much as you do ;) although I missed Sierra and Aliera a little.

Haha, I know the feeling, I actually had read Atrix Wolfe a long, long time ago and the only thing I remembered about it was the Faery Queen with hair colour of Autumn leaves (funny the things the mind fixates on :)

Yes, you do! :)

Yeah, it's a great Gaiman book.

All of Patricia McKillip's books are worth checking out if you like fairy tale atmosphere and gorgeous writing, really.

McKillip's prose is probably the most gorgeous I've ever encountered. I feel like she'd be required reading for literature students if she wasn't a fantasy writer.

Though I also don't think the beauty of her prose would be as fitting outside the fantasy genre.

She really is. I'm always surprised not to see her mentioned more often amongst the great fantasy writers.

Her prose really works so well because it's fantasy, yeah :)
