Thanks for reading! The february fandom fest is a celebration of all fandom -as an example, you could've write an entry on One Direction, and this year, I wanted to participate because I tend to evitate those love and praise challenges. It also satified my need to write meta about the show and the fandom, because it's something a often want to do but I deny myself because of english being my second language, and it seems to me that, even more than when you write a story, the level of english language has to be a little bit superior, and I don't think I possess enough knowledge to do it.
Well, maybe it's a good thing, though, because if I would let myself write all the essais I want about the show, and fandom, and other meta stuff, I would spam my friend's pages lol
This is so wonderfully written, I agree with everything you've said and I'm in happy tears here because we are part of the most amazing fandom ever, and part of a worldwide SPN family. And because Jared and Jensen are such beautiful guys, inside and out, I love what you said here...
"One of Jensen’s favorite sentences comes from the show. I’m sure you all know it by now. Family doesn’t end with blood. Jared and Jensen have opened their generous arms to all of us, and I think it’s exceptional."
What you saiid about writing is very similar to my own story too - not that I've ever written in French, hee hee! - but I would never have had the courage or opportunity to share my fics if I hadn't joined LJ. And I'm so pleased you did too, you know I'm a huge fan of your stories - and your artwork now too!
thank you! When I signed up for this, I felt a lot of pressure (from myself)to write something very heartfelt to describe my feelings toward the Supernatural fandom and what it meant to me. I had written a 9k text that was still unfinished and was basically a biography, starting from me falling ill and being diagnosed with epilepsy, then discovering the show... I have a serious swelling problems whenever I write :D Anyway I start all over again, trying to let my heart speaks (how cheesy does that sound *rolls eyes*) in a reasonable amount of words.
You're very welcome. I have serious problems keeping any writing short too! My son has the same problem and I often have to help him shorten an essay by 500 words!
You did a great job, you really let your heart speak and it wasn't cheesy at all!
So beautiful, so heartfelt, so wonderful :) Thank you so much for sharing this with us, reading it made me feel a bit teary and all warm and fuzzy inside :)
I know I'm not the most active SPN fan, and living in Finland means I can't see the actors in conventions or anything. But even in the small way that I belong into this fandom, I have found it to be so full of amazing people, who really are a family. And I've been happy to see how that reaches out to any other fandom these people are a part of :)
Fandom, not just SPN but the fandom as a whole, has changed my life too, much in the same way as yours. Here I can be me. Here I can post my stories without fear. Here I am a part of a family. And I'm happy you're now a part of it too *HUGS*
No, thanks to you for creating such a lovely way of proclaiming our love to our fandoms. Sitting down and thinking about what I had to say about my fandom, I felt this heavy weight on my shoulders, because I really, really wanted to be able to translate into words all the feelings my fandom gave me.
I like my text: in the end, I just let my emotions speak.
