Here I am

I am so very tired of Christmas music. And this is not a gratuitous Christmas-is-about-Jesus post! This is a genuine, I am so very sick of Christmas music and the reasons happen to include Jesus!Through the years
We all will be together,
If the fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough.
And have yourself a merry little Christmas now.

Totally agreed!

Something that bugged me the other day: I heard an OLD version of "Here Comes Santa Claus" the other day, and did you know that the full version mentions God TWICE? Why does that bug me? "Santa knows we're all God's children" and "So let's give thanks to the Lord above that Santa Claus is coming tonight" are the lines. Singing about SANTA's omnipotence (which is in the song a lot, but which only God has) and lying to your kids and asking them to thank God for your lie (Santa isn't really coming tonight) just seems wrong to me.

On another note, if you haven't heard it, there's this awesome country song called "Jesus Gets Jealous of Santa Claus" that is REALLY cute.

I prefer Christmas songs which have the true meaning: JESUS. Do you know "It's about the cross" by Go fish? Search in YouTube. Because Christmas is truly about the cross. :)

I'm glad you've been praying a lot :) Remember, when you pray, believe you will have what you want, and you will have it. :)

So Jesus answered and said to them: "Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' it will be done. And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive." Matthew 21: 21,22 NKJV ( ... )

I went to a Christian concert once where one of the singers sang that song and prefaced it with this story...she wanted to change the lyric to "if the Lord allows", and was told she couldn't because of copyright infringement or something...so she contacted the guy who wrote it for permission and he told her that actually, the lyric had been changed to remove religious concepts for popular culture, and the way she wanted to sing it was how he had originally wrote it anyway.

No idea if her story was true or not...though I would hope the nice Christian singer at the Christian concert would not lie...but it is an interesting story, at the least.

Christmas music makes me grumpy...and then that makes me feel sort of guilty so I try to just ignore it and be happy. Hopefully I succeed and don't annoy people w/it.
