How can you write fiction without ever killing off a character? I understand there are some stories that don't require a death, but since death is an inescapable part of life, it often finds itself in a fictional story.
When I had to kill one of my major characters, my first writing mentor called it; "killing your babies." It was appropriate because I was often loathe to kill a character I liked, but the plot called for that character's death.
I used to kill characters off left and right. I wrote through that part of what I had to say. Who knows, in OF I will surely broach it again. But wrt my ff, I mostly write comedy. People go through phases in their writing. I still write horror (if the vampire stories are anything to go by) but I don't kill main characters who are protagonist/antagonists in non-horror stories anymore/right now.
