Aaaw... *sniffles* They're so adorable, and yet one feels so sorry for them.

Thanks =)

One of the things that I think you see very clearly in the show is that they are both still trying to hold onto what little innocence and happiness they have left, so I wanted to show a little of what they were like back when they were innocent. I also had to throw in the thing at the end that foreshadows Lincoln paying for Michael's college, which we all know is what the show implies is Michael's reason for rescuing his brother in the first place. I also thought it was nicely symmetrical that Lincoln wanted to get Michael out of "this hell-hole," and Michael eventually goes to prison to rescue Lincoln from that hell-hole.

I love stories that focus on the brothers' dysfunctional relationship. And Lincoln's internal debate about whether to be angry at Michael, or ultimately, himself is, I think, very true to character. Thanks for participating in the challenge. I hope it inspires you to do more!!

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad that Lincoln's internal struggle was evident... I didn't initially intend this story to be so angsty or to focus on their dysfunction, but that's how it turned out and I think it's more true than whatever else I might have written. It's amazing where your fingers take you when it actually comes time to write.

Happy birthday! Many happy returns.

Oh my goodness! Another kid!fic!! I really can't get enough of them and this one is a particularly fine specimen!!

Poor little Michael passed out from drinking Lincoln's birthday present! And thinking he was dead and Lincoln is a most unlikely angel come to tell him he's in Heaven is so cute! But that Michael would think this hopefully is kind of poignant.

I loved that Lincoln would pretend to be mad that Michael drank his beer but the real reason, that he's a shitty brother, a bad role model and all Michael has, is so very Lincoln.

Michael is the only person that Lincoln cares about more than himself

Perfect! Because it's true, isn't it?

This was cute, funny and sad; all the right elements for a Michael-Lincoln kid!fic!! I loved it!

Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I really enjoyed writing it, and I was really proud of how I portrayed the characters. I'm glad that they rang true.

Lincoln can come rescue me any time he wants... ;)

And heartbreaking, yes =/

I'd like to think so... sometimes I'm not entirely sure that the canon portrays this anymore, like it did particularly in S1. Now that LJ is around, the writers seem to think that he cares only about LJ and his brother only slightly more than normal people. I don't think that that's really what Lincoln would do, though I don't deny that he would also care for his son. But this is back before all that, so it would still be true in any case =)

Thanks for the comments! I'm sure you know how much they brighten an author's day.

So, I found this after looking through all the challenge responses, and I'm glad I did. 98% of kid!fics when it's mostly Michael/Lincoln turn out to be phenomenally canon-like, as far as personalities. I especially liked how it seemed like Michael was still kind of on his high horse like he is at the start of the season, thinking of Lincoln as predominantly a totally irresponsible person. It hadn't blossomed out fully, yet, but you set the perfect undertones. Ahh, everything was so damn canonical (probably not a word). It was great. =)

Thanks for the comment! I'm glad my characters struck you as so canonical =)

Incidentally, canonical IS a word, and in non-fanfiction circles, is probably more widely understood than the word "canon" is =) Most people would think of things that go boom if you tried to tell them that something is really "far from canon."

I'm trying to write some fics for another fandom now, one that's pretty new, and I have to say that I'm really appreciative of Prison Break now... the characters have so much depth, and they practically write themselves. I don't have to constantly ask myself "Would the character really do this?" It is really obvious what the characters would and wouldn't do, and when you choose a departure from this norm to write your story, you can use other things that you do know about them to substantiate that choice and make it still feel accurate. Thanks again for your comment!

LOL, yes, they'd be "The story is really far from exploding?" And we'll just sit in the shadows and point fingers and laugh sadisticly.

The only other fandom I've wrote fics for is Supernatural, and it was relatively easy, yet not near as easy as Prison Break. The odd thing, as easy as it is for the characters to write themselves here with PB, it's also incredibly challenging at the same time. Weirdness.

Anyway, don't thank me for the comment. I know how much they mean to an author. Occasionally even the difference between continuing to write =)

So true! That's one thing I love about a small circle like we have here in most of the slashdoms... You don't have many (if any) people who sit around and read stories and criticize. Everyone has at least tried their hand at writing, and know how hard it is at times, and know the value of comments, however short (or however critical), because it means that at least someone is reading what you wrote and caring enough to give feedback!

Thanks for reading, if I can't thank you for commenting =)
