Title:Discreet Author:EtherealFlaim Genre:Slash, Double-Drabble Rating:PG-13 Author's Notes:I really missed these guys, so I had to do something... So this is my first attempt at a drabble, which I couldn't or wouldn't compress down to 100 words... it fit a lot more easily into 200 =) So, it's a double.
Michael wasn't quite asleep yet... )

slash:michael/lincoln, slash:prisonbreak, fic:drabble, fic

Damn you, EF. That is absolutely heartbreaking for two reasons.

The pain of having to let Lincoln go after everything that they went through, after a childhood of mess and after destroying his life, must have killed Michael just a little inside.

And uh, I don't think I've said this anywhere in the fandom, but if I have I'm gonna say it again. I. HATE. SARA. Seriously, I cannot express in words how much I hate Sara. And that's not just the slash fan talking. I don't think it would matter if this series were all women and she was the only man, I'd still hate her for reasons I can't even skim in a comment.

Which, for me, makes this such a heartbreak. I hate the fact that Michael is willing to give up everything he's ever loved for a shot at a normal life just because.

Of course, I'm also a sucker for unrequited love. So uh, pretty much love you now. It's a love/hate relationship at this point.

I agree. I don't think he would have been able to hold out forever though. If there's one thing I've learned about love, it's that it defies willpower with ease.

I. HATE. SARA
Oh, dear. I don't hate her, per-se. I just think she didn't deserve Michael. But I also didn't watch her on a weekly basis, as I was catching up on the first season and a bit all at once... so maybe that's part of it. I think I always have kinda had a bad feeling about Michael or Lincoln loving anyone but the other. And like you, it's not just the slasher in me, it's because I've seen how the writers can strike out a character with less effort than blinking. Watch out, LJ!

Of course, I'm also a sucker for unrequited love.
Guilty >_< It's apparently the only kind I'm capable of. So, I think I've got some experience from which to write it =)

Thanks for the comment!!

It's a lovely, very bittersweet "first attempt". And being also a Michael/Sara shipper, I like that it tackles or at least hints at the Sara issue - whatever your conclusion might be.
Hope there will be more attempts ;)

Yeah, I wondered how a M/S fan would take this. It's a blatant "See, he's faking! He still loves Lincoln!" in their faces. I'm glad it didn't leave a sour taste in your mouth =)

And as much as it goes unspoken here, I think that Michael has to feel something for Sara. He probably wouldn't "still feel the warmth of her body next to him" if he didn't; he'd feel her weight next to him in the bed, or he'd feel cold because she stole the sheets. >=)

I don't mind. I mind character bashing, even when I don't like them, but as long as they're treated decently, it's a matter of interpretation, perspective or whatever.
Anywyay it's either Michael/Sara or Michael/Lincoln here (and Michael angsting over the choice). It's a win-win situation to me ;)

I like this a lot as it really illustrates something I suspect very strongly about Michael.

It lays out the notion that no matter who Michael is drawn to in the end his bond to Linc will step in a prevail.

They're the heart of this story so it all has to come back to them in the end.

much to the relief of slashers everywhere. >=]

I think we might really get some good characterization of our two favorite men revolving around their separation; we have already seen Lincoln looking lostedly out the doorway after Michael leaves. It'll be a nice change, I think. And I think however they wind back up in one another's arms will be very telling.

Thanks, as always, for the great comment!

Oh my Lord!! They kissed? With Sara right there?!!

Wonder why that made it feel hotter than ever?!!

That was deliciously naughty...and a little thought-provoking too!

Yep, they certainly did >=)

The REALLY interesting question, though, is: What would Sara think if she was awake? =O

She'd probably be horrified! But a part of me would want her to think "How lovely! They love each other so much!"

A tricky one, that! ;o)

Yay! I'm glad that the M/S fans aren't being ostracized by this fic, as that'd probably cut out a sizable reader base =)

Tease. lol
I know, right? >=) Maybe I'll write more sometime. I'd like to try to do something of that sort in a drabble. I think the challenge would be a good one.
