Nails

In a perfect world, the shop I saw from the bus today called Imperial Nails should be an ironmonger. This not being a perfect world, it was instead a beauty salon.

Then again, perhaps Imperial Nails are similar to Imperial Stormtroopers, in which case the real puzzle is, which empire is training its nails in Helsinki, of all places?

Stormtroopers are less about effectiveness at killing stuff as about overall impact. Knowing the Stormtroopers are coming cows the opponent/populace into submission. Therefore the most important part of their training is to do with making an impact, with how they are perceived, with appearance. What you saw was both a beauty salon and basic training for Imperial Stormtroopers.

First they learn to do their nails. Then the learn to do their hair. Makeup is next. If they make it through basic training they move onto clothing. Black Stormtrooper armour or white? Eventually the troops with the most Imperial looking nails graduate to become a full Imperial Stormtrooper.

None of which answers the question of which empire, of course. Could it perhaps be the obvious answer of the Finns? You never know when Sweden will invade again so a first strike makes sense.

But the Finns don't have an empire! If they are secretly starting an empire, then why be blatant about the names of training camps?

...

and is LJ the best place to discuss this? (meaningfully rolls eyes eastwards)

I was just joking. Of course it was all humour. There is no secret empire poised to strike anywhere in particular. I am not, nor have I ever been, a member of the thing that doesn't exist. Nor are there recruitment centres cunningly hidden in plain site.

Truly you are a man without fear.

Then again, you don't share a border with them...
