Oh holy mother of god.

I'm breathless, and not in a naughty dodgy TMI way but just in an astonished way. I don't have words for this, other than I think - think - it might be one of the best etherati pieces yet. And you know what?

I haven't even finished part one yet. I have to go to WORK (ALREADY late to leave in fact). Tonight's shift is going to be a distracted one.

(and I hope you don't mind but I had to post a quote to my Tumblr:

If it's not ok I can get rid of it, just giving you a heads up)

HO shit gotta go but I'll be back later!

I'm not even sure what tumblr is but I don't mind!

And... well, yeah, that's what I get for never having a beta until now: a sudden jump in quality with all the sucky things weeded out. XD

Have an okay shift, and will see you when you return. :D

I almost read this fic a few times and kept picking others because of the prompt. Man am I dumb.

The imagery here is so wonderful...

He won’t remember, later, exactly what the sequence of events was - how he came to be leaning back against the wall, ears ringing and gunpowder-scent in his nose, a familiar weight bearing him towards the ground. Then the weight is gone, and there is another scream, in a voice he does not recognize.

And other places too. I have to admit that I have not read Now As Before so I am not entirely sure what is going on, but I will read it before I read part 2. :)

Oh wow heh yeah, I can't even imagine how confusing this must be without all the backstory and buildup - there's so much that goes on in the other story to make this one make any kind of sense whatsoever. XD

I'm so glad you like the imagery; that's something I try really hard at. <3

And seriously, I don't blame anyone for skipping over it because of the summary/premise/prompt. I fully admit how cracked out the premise is, but I'm just too invested in these versions of the characters to stop writing them.

Loved seeing Daniel's kinkiness, loved seeing Rorschach being chock full o' issues. This was beautiful, and you made it intimate without making me feel like a voyeur for reading. I'm always blown away by your way with words; I love the way you paint them. The depth of the love and trust that you create for these lost boys is always wonderful, but this fic is on a higher level.

*goes to part 2*

Ror will always be full of issues, no matter what 'verse, no matter what his circumstances are. D: But this is the best I've ever been able to do for them, I think. Long-term anyway.

And Dan will always, always be a kinkster. *coughs*

Thank you so much. :)

mmpgfn.

I was so glad that you made their first encounter... well, fucked up. Because seriously, how could it not be? And then it ended not-so-fucked-up, and that struck the soppy romantic fangirl inside me who wants to see all my OTPs end up with some semblance of happily-ever-after. So yes. Two birds with one stone.

*otherwise, speechless*

Exactly, therer's no way it couldn't have been. There's the usual pile of Rorschach Issues and then there's the added pile of Zombie Issues and also the Dan Is A Kinky Bastard In A Way That Could Endanger Him Issues, I'm honestly amazed it ever got off the ground at all, as it were.

But I figured that going by what they got through in NaB, these versions of them are capable of working through pretty much anything, no matter how fucked up, so they got to have an ending that was in fact 'okay' for a given value of 'okay', for now.
