He wants to blame it all away.  Excuses, excuses.  Wants them to count.

(Where were my senses?  I left them all behind.)

But he is not blind.  He knew her once.

(and he can tell how much she hates this)

He can see her smiles don’t reach her eyes, her eyes never meet his, and she flinches

-for a split second-

every time Damien touches her.
