Well, yeah. Bobby uses holy water, but Bobby has enough faith in his fighting abilities (and probably his collection of safeguards and devil's traps built into his house) that he's willing to risk being up close to someone when he finds out it's a demon. Jo using a shotgun of rock salt is just being smart. (I hate when characters who are holding a gun on someone at a comfortable distance become stupid and walk right up to have the gun taken away from them. I don't think that's how people behave, even really dumb people.)

So, yeah, Dean, she did have to shoot you. Or at least hold a gun on you.
