I wanted to post my post-HBP opinions on why I think H/L would be better than H/G. I would post this in the H/L vs H/G debate at Fictionalley Park, but that debate got hostile. Considering the hostilities between the ships since HBP, I don't want to be the one to open that debate up again. I might post it at the H/L movement at Fictionally Park,

I really like this post, you've hit on a lot of things that I agree with.

First off:

Harry doesn't actually spend a lot of time thinking about Ginny.

A million times, yes! He spends hardly any time thinking of her at all, and when he does, it's either an NC-17 dream or that homicidal monster clawing at his insides. Now THERE'S 'romantic imagery' for ya. Anyway, I was planning to address this in my fic; to get away from the H/G, I plan to first make Harry examine his relationship with Ginny--it's going to be something along the lines of him being worried because he feels like he should think about her more than he does...sort of a guilt trip, if you will.

I never thought I'd say this, but I wish we'd seen more of the H/G.All we saw of the relationship was almost completely non-emotion based. I mean, Harry's relationship with Cho--especially in OotP--was all about who was feeling what and why. Harry describes his stomach doing backflips, and how he was glad over the fact that Cho said he made her nervous, etc. With Ginny, it'

Gah, I wish I could explain things as well as you have. You pretty much summed up everything I feel about H/G and H/L.

I hope, for the good of mankind (heh), that you're right. I don't think the message that H/G sends out is a good one, and I can't stand the way anyone who doesn't agree with it is labelled as a 'JKR basher'. Please, change the record. I'm really hoping for H/L in Book 7 or the epilogue, just because it'd be a change from the lust fuelled H/G.

Reading your post has given me a renewed sense of hope, so thank you. :) Mind if I friend you? I like reading your posts on shipping.

Thanks, that's very nice! :) When I first discovered the anti-H/L fandom had labeled us JKR-bashers (the idea honestly didn't occur to me until I read it), I honestly thought they were the JKR-bashers for reading the romance in HBP and not thinking JKR is way better that that. Thanks about all your comments, and I'll friend you back. I love your icons, by the way. :)

PS - You've read the Wind Singer? Squeeeeeeeeeeeeee - hardly anyone else has heard of it! :) You know, we really don't have enough Wind Singer icons out there (hint hint).

No problemo! Thanks for the compliment about the icons *huggles* and yes, hardly anyone seems to have heard of the Wind Singer. I'll probably make some icons for it at some point (after all, I need requests - I feel completely uninspired right now). I wonder if they're making a film, having pictures of supposed actors would be very helpful.

We’ve been told Ginny is Harry’s ideal girl. We’ve been shown Luna is. We’ve been told Ginny can make Harry feel better. We’ve been shown Luna can (please see the bulletin board scene). We’ve been told Harry has fun with Ginny. We’ve been shown he has fun with Luna (please see Slughorn’s party). If/when H/L becomes canon, I think it will be shown and not told (unlike H/G).

I agree 100% with you, and you've actually demonstrated how H/L is waaay better than what we got in HBP...I don't have much more faith left in the author's abilities, anyway -__-
