Teamwork.

Sasuke was leaning against a tree with his arms folded as he watched Naruto and Sakura.

“Not like that Naruto,” Sakura said and roughly grabbed the pan he was holding. “You’re so incompetent! How you lived so long, I’ll never know.”

“Am not,” Naruto muttered and folded his arms.

“Hand me that package,” Sakura said, waving to a spot behind her as she knelt down next to the fire.

“What is it?” Naruto asked after he obeyed.

“Ramen,” Sakura said. Sasuke noticed she flushed slightly.

“Really!” Naruto asked.

Sasuke bit down the urge to call him an idiot. Teamwork.

“It’s about the only thing you’ll eat,” Sakura said quickly and turned her upper body around half way and pointed the wooden spoon at Naruto. “Don’t you dare thing anything more of it! I just don’t want us to fail because you didn’t eat.”

Naruto grinned and said, “Sakura…”

If Sasuke had any doubts that the universe hated him (he didn’t) being paired with Naruto had erased them completely. Teamwork.

“Boo,” a voice suddenly whispered in Sasuke’s ear, startling him enough for Sasuke to lose his balance and fall on his back. Kakashi-Sensei pressed his foot on his chest and Sasuke scowled up at him. Sasuke could feel Naruto’s gloating eyes on him. “Is there any reason you’re not helping?”

Sasuke turned his head to the side and said nothing.

“Kakashi-Sensei? What -- ” Sakura said timidly, and from the corner of his eye, Sasuke saw Kakashi-Sensei rise his hand slightly. She fell silent.

Kakashi-Sensei pulled that book out and began to read, letting off some of the pressure on Sasuke chest, making it even easier for Sasuke to escape. But, he wouldn’t. That would mean that Kakashi-Sensei would win, and Sasuke wasn’t going to lose.
