Goofy Things...
So my parents have a neurotic dog. He is terribly sweet, but he has some hangups. He is a seventy-pound black lab, so not a small dog. Which make his neurosis funnier, and more obvious, than if he was a smaller dog.
He's also only about a year and a half old.
So he doesn't like stairs. He'll leap up to the deck from the ground (about two and a half feet straight up) but won't go up the stairs. He doesn't like floor changes. Like, the tile to the carpet, or carpet to linoleum. Or linoleum to hard wood. He'll stop like there is a barrier there, he'll lie down and whine. He'll visibly gather his courage and cross that threshold like he's just come through a mine field.
He doesn't like going around corners, so he'll peek around the corner, but I don't know whether it is a disconnect of how big he is, or whether he just doesn't believe his hindquarters will follow him.
His newest trick. He will come up to the threshold to cross (which has no raised bit at all). He'll stop. He'll back up, crazy Ivan, and back into the room! As if its all okay if his butt enters the room first, but if it is his head he just doesn't know what to do with himself.
I don't know. He is hilarious. We told my brother about the crazy Ivan move, and he thought we were fucking with him. Then he actually saw it happen. I told him we're not that clever.
You just can't make this shit up.
