J! and I got very lucky at Estrella, and managed to pick up a used arming round. We haven't put it up yet (probably this weekend is the weather holds). We're assuming it's in good shape - we know the seams need to be resealed, hopefully nothing else.

We made them ourselves. Not too bad in terms of time really, but having or having access to the right tools is key. You are of course welcome to play in our workshop anytime.

I find these pretty easy to follow. We use the joiner on the perimeter poles too as it is much faster than the router.
Also we didn't rip the second set of vertical poles we made as we felt more confident about the stouter poles made from 4x4s.

But I think you're right, and we'll end up making the poles ourselves. Now I just have to find a place to get good tent stakes that won't charge an arm and a leg... rope is easy. :-)

Either way, Tent smiths has a lovely octagon bit you can use to join an upright pole to make it shorter. We ripped a 4x4 for my upright and it's worked pretty well. The octagon looks very cool.
It's also dead easy to make poles out of 2x2s (hunrvogt style) or round closet dowels (my old marquee).
I've always used 10 penny nails with washers on the round, but it doesn't look period enough for period camping, in my opinion.
