To guard or not to guard, that is the question.

I'm still on that German underwear kick. Wool unterrocks (that would be underskirts, or petticotes) for Estrella are next on the docket. I have a bright red-orange wool poplin and a gold satin-finish gabardine to use as the base colors. The question is: do I guard them? And if so, in what, and in what colors? How about just guarding one skirt? It sounds like you don't have teh frabic you would like to guard the orange, so perhaps done is beautiful on that one.

On Germans? By mid century, definitely. Most of the examples I have are from woodcuts - Jost Amman has examples.
