on a rainy afternoon, i mused

Lucy, is it really not possible to skate there?Have you thought about finding some temporary substitution of skating?Like an adult ballet class? It's also a beautiful way to exercise, very helpful too for the skating later when you can step back onto the ice again. Well I know your inspiration Johnny doesn't do ballet...(stephane does!lol)

Is your life more 'regular' now?Perhaps you can try to start back writing(maybe begin with more reading?)...You know, it's not that rare anymore for office guys, when they go back home, to devote time and effort in some less profit-generating fields which they are passionate about.

Reading poetry is a lonely activity though. For example one of my friend came from the US but when I mentioned Emily Dickson he totally had no clue...........LOL (but still, grab a book of poetry to read in a summer afternoon feels so good)

Oh, I'm not pining for skating at this time of the year, actually - the weather is so nice that I like to go outside after work. :) I just miss the feeling sometimes... even though the last times I skated it wasn't really the same. I tried ballet before (briefly) and had two very different experiences - one bad and one good; it depends on the instructor. I want to sign up for some other sport class in September or something - supposedly there's a lot of student classes starting. (The problem with attending classes for adults right now is that most adults are in their 40s, which is a bit old for me... and then there's classes for teenagers, which is not my age group either.) I have no idea what sport I'd like to start - I thought of picking up soccer again, but there's most probably no female teams for adult beginners. ;) (I looked.) I thought rowing, but that's a bit complicated to get into, since most courses only accept kids and I've never rowed before in my life. I'll look around and see what's out there, I'm not entirely opposed ( ... )

When I started bellydancing, I was 17 and all the other women were in their 40s. ;) It was nice to meet someone younger, later in a class here in Prague, but it wasn't as bad as it sounds. ;)

I suppose in belly dancing it doesn't make that much of a difference, but in sports like soccer, whether you're 20-something or 45 will show... it's just not the same energy/speed level. ;)

Thanks :) I didn't mean to make it sounds a if talking to cats is crazy... it just surprises me that I do - I never saw myself as one of those animal lovers. (I don't lead conversations with the cat, just... well, silly stuff.) :)

I do miss our get togethers, talking about geeky stuff and books... I keep "stalking" your books on Goodreads, cause I know our tastes are kinda similar.
