Believe in me?

How can I achieve anything when I don't believe in myself?

Whenever my brain thinks oh, maybe I could do this, another part immediately replies no, you can't, you're not good enough/motivated enough/talented enoughI don't know what to do with my life ( Read more... )

I hear the GRE is not too bad. And I doubt the TOEFL will give you any problems because your English is excellent. :)

If you're going to apply to creative writing, you probably have to choose between genres. Some schools only let you apply for fiction, poetry, non-fiction, play writing...some schools let you apply to more than one genre. You should probably pick what you think you do best (trying to at least get over the "I'm not good enough" doubts for a bit, I know it's hard :( )and see what the requirements are. The norm is around 15-20 pages of fiction, 15-20 poems, or a full-length stage play or 2 short plays (I don't know about non fiction).

But you're American. I've read about people listing words and their meanings (thousands of words) that they memorized so they would pass the GRE. In fact, I downloaded one of those word lists. But I'll try and see how good or bad I do ( ... )

Maybe hours are different for teachers in other countries? No, seriously, those were my hours when I taught Kindergarten.
I don't know, half my family are teachers - high school, mainly. They do work a lot, and there's work that you take home (grading papers, preparing lessons etc.), but they don't work from AM to PM every day like most employees in business.

I guess they are compensated monetarily, but I'd rather have a life.
What's all the money for when you can't even enjoy it properly, though? That's what I keep asking myself.

Teachers have a lot of work outside the school and no money. :D

In Czech republic they don't have money, that's true.
I know about the extra work - remember, half of my family are teachers. But they also have holidays. ;)

That's true about the holidays. :)
Show me a country where teachers are well paid. :D

I understand you so well. I know I have talents, good qualities, things I'm good at, but I never have the motivation or dedication to see anything through. I dream big, and then I give up :(

Good luck with your scholarship ♥
Just try asking that third candidate for your recommendation? S/he might surprise you!

I saw your newest post. You summed up this whole entry in four words. Kudos for succinct and accurate blogging. ;)

But no, really, I dream big, and then I give up :( - that is exactly my problem, too. If you ever figure out how to solve it, lemme know.

And thanks. :)
I'm sure the 3rd professor will gladly write me a recommendation... praising my qualities as a business student. However, if I apply for creative writing, I'd need him to talk about why I'm a good candidate for being a writer (or something along those lines). Which I'm afraid he knows nothing about - he never got to see that part of me.
