I had a dream last night, featuring dancing lessons, Evan, Johnny/some female (it was confusing, because it was a girl one moment and Johnny the next), Jeff, ( jealousy and slut!me. )
As for the GPF, I haven't seen a thing yet, but I have seen the scores and it was just as expected - lots of WTFery
Bless you for introducing the term "WTFery" to my lexicon. It is a nice counter to "asshattery," which is another term I love.
Goddamnit, Johnny Weir, would you please get another choreographer or start working on your transitions or something?!
AMEN. I really, really, really do not like Nina Petrenko's choreo on him. I didn't like the "Feeling Good" EX she made for him, and when he announced she was doing his choreo for this season, I had a few "oh shit" moments. But I'm just an armchair commentator and a sucky, sucky skater -- I'm not him, and he knows what he's doing, right? I'd certainly hope so, but...yeah, the results. If he was skating last season's programs as he skated them last season against this year's bunch, he'd be like Joubert in 06-07.
I mean, he keeps losing points on all these stupid little things, when I am sure that he could do so.much.better. It's just so frustrating, because I want him
( ... )
I'm not him, and he knows what he's doing, right? Well, I don't know. I would think that if he looked at the scores he's getting, he'd realize that something's not clicking the way it should. Galina probably isn't 100% objective, either, where her daughter's choreo is concerned, and neither is Viktor (who is suddenly never there anymore at competitions). I just re-watched Love is War from last season and it was EPIC, the music and the way it worked for him. I love how he's all fast this season, faster than he used to be, but I want that kind of energy back. It's just not here, esp. in the free skate. Comparing last season to this one, it was like he was glowing, whereas now he seems a little tired. And that makes me sad.
Interesting, because leaving points on the ice was the beef many people had when he was still working with Hill -- except then, the points left out there were mostly because he couldn't count and would leave out jumping passes.I think he's still doing far better than before he started working with Galina, jumping-
( ... )
I get the impression that he's waiting it out, thinking that this season isn't as important, that what really matters is next season, the Olympics. I don't know if I like that attitude.
I don't like that attitude, and it's a dangerous one to have going into an Olympic season.
Love is War *was* EPIC, a complete package -- music, costume, he seemed personally invested in it -- and he just looked so much healthier, so much more on top of his game. I agree that he seems tired this season. He looks better than he did in 06-07, but there's a spark that's lacking. It's that energy thing you mentioned. I'd love to see that kind of energy come back.
Back to the perceived attitude -- he may be feeling that way, but I'm wondering if he's feeling a lot more pressure, since we're about a year out from Vancouver, and there are a load of awesome guys coming out of the woodwork. I would love to get inside his head right now with Abbott winning the GPF (I'm still wtf'ing over that).
