You're perfectly right! Travelling to me is a pleasure but it can be harsh and force you to do things with which you were never faced before...it helps in so many ways! My parents sent me off for my 1st student exchange when I was 13, it was a sort of " If you survive this you'll survive everything", lol. It was hard and I was scared but I'm still thanking them! (it was in Czech Republic by the way; do you know, per chance, of a town called Blansko!?)
Let's not talk about that one time in 2006 when I pretended to be a sports journalist and managed to persuade the administrative staff at Cup of Russia that it's true, just so I could go watch the Men practice. You did that!? OMG, you're great!!!
Wow, you're parents are tough! :D How long did you stay in the Czech Republic? And did you learn any Czech? I do know a town Blansko, though I've never been there - I just know the name. :) (It could be that there are more of them, though. Which part of the CZ was it in?)
You did that!? OMG, you're great!!! Yes. *hides* I wasn't planning it, but... it sort of happened and I was so shocked afterwards. They gave me a real journalist accreditation and I could go to press conferences etc. I wrote all about it in my Russia-journal: it's a long story, though (and that's just day 1 of CoR). It was an insane thing - I've never been very pushy or a good actress and there I was, persuading these Russians that I need to get in so I can interview Verner etc. XD I shocked myself, but the weekend was a fantastic one!
Lol, they are actively fighting the stereotype of Italian parents keping their children all protected... I stayed just three weeks and I have unluckily forgot almost everything I had learned :(. The Blansko I went to is in the South Moravian region, I think.
I bet it was a great week-end! I'll read the entry as soon as I fet a free moment, thanks!!!
So all of these achievements - though they might seem little to you - make me a bit proud. I know exactly what you mean. Ditto on the phone and calling thing.
And this is exactly why I want to travel a bit. Well, part of it. So I'd harden up a bit. :D
This was such a great post. I'm glad you're seeing things this way. At least right now. Remember - 'do one thing every day that scares you'. ;) *proud and a bit jealous too* :D
Yes, you should travel. Or you know, not just travel - live abroad. That will harden you up like whoa. (Or not and you'll still stay a softie inside, like me.)
So, what did you do today that scared you? And yay it's friday!
I fully understand what you mean about the satisfaction you get from doing things for yourself, and being forced to be independent when you travel! you should be proud!!! go girlllllllll *waves lucy banner*

Nothing. xD Not today. Or... maybe some things that I considered scary before have become things I just walk through now, without much noticing.

Yeah, you're probably already used to your scary things! :) Go you!
