This has been an extremely long week. Here's the rundown, some of which you already know, some of which you don't.

Abandonment (Revisited)As you all know, Seth left early Sunday morning for Anaheim. It sounds like he had a good time, learned a lot, and saw some old (and new) friends. I'm glad he had a good time, but boy am I glad that he's home ( Read more... )

seth, julian, migraines, menus, shabbos, house, miscellaneous

Ouch.

Well, that's nothing that a week of sleep, a full domestic staff with butlers, nannies, cooks, and maids, a couple million dollars, and a miracle or two won't solve.

I'm just so happy that Seth's home. It's pathetic that I can't keep the house together while he's gone, but I just can't. It's too much. So I'm glad he's home. But the week of sleep, full staff, $$$, and miracles would be nice too.

Really, it was a good week... I just wish I'd been able to accomplish all of the things that needed to be accomplished. Oh well.

Every time I go away, I worry that I shall return to find Becky and Aaron playing on the computer surrounded by piles of trash and pizza boxes. I'm convinced if I ever went away for more than a week they would die (or my mother in law would come down).

Seth did, indeed, walk into a pretty messy house this morning. (And I think there was even a pizza box in the kitchen that I never got a chance to take out)

Actually, yeah, I think Seth did kinda walk into your nightmare. Minus the computer...

Once again, I must point out the glaringly obvious:

You are a much stronger woman than I.

Meh. Not really. This certainly wasn't a TYPICAL week.

"Oooooohhhhh! Like Lightning McQueen?!?"
Seth should tell Julian he met Lightning McQueen, and photoshop a picture of them together...

I don't think Seth's photoshop skilz are up to the challenge. (And mine certainly aren't)

Do you have a good recent picture of Seth, preferably in front of a relatively plain background?

I can take a new picture tomorrow night and send it to you. I'll have him stand against a wall or something. Does it have to be a white wall? We don't have a lot of those in our house.

It was nice chatting with you last night :)

And that is enough food. Trust me. We were so blessed to get so much food when we were sitting shiva that we had to give some away.

It was nice chatting with you as well. And I know they'll have tons of food, but this is SHABBOS! It's different. It's not like Yet Another Deli Platter (YADP). It's special.

But um, I'm still worried it's not enough food. For nine people. That's a lot.

With all this going on, have you figured out a menu yet for 9 Tevet?

I should note that my question is only half-serious; it was more of an attempt to say how much I enjoy reading your menus.

yeah, I used to do Shabbos menus for the whole month at once (gregorian month, not Hebrew month, which I know is completely ridiculous and weird, but my brain works in strange ways). I have, however, not been organized enough to handle that in a long time. But I'm definitely considering the mushroom theme for 9 Tevet.

And I'm glad you enjoy reading the menus. Even the boring ones, apparently. :)

(I used to post menus every week so that I wouldn't get too repetitious and so I could look back and see which side dishes worked well together, which people came which week and so on... but I just haven't been able to keep up with it.)
