I don't know how to solve this problem- I try to "not buy" stuff from China because of their mistreatment of people and the environment. Looks like the DRC is just as bad....

There are not a lot of mass-produced goods you can buy straight from the DRC. But mining there is firmly in the hands of Chinese companies which profit off their exploitation. So I think it is the same thing.
I do not go as far as you (not buying Chinese products) because I am not opposed to China having a profitable industry. But I wish profit off of DRC natural resources went to the ordinary people of the DRC.

I thought about this some more and I can not think of a way to discern which Chinese products were produced responsibly and which were produced under conditions which exploit the Chinese population and pollute our environment.
