Requiescant in pace les Robespierristes. Not just the famous ones, and not just those who died 216 years ago today, but to all the victims of the Thermidorian reaction.

Ooh, thanks for the thoughts on Brunel. I've never read it (obviously, since my French is still at high beginner/low intermediate level ;_;), but I've heard about it from time to time and it always pops up when I do French Rev book searches, so it was interesting to hear what you thought of it.

And I also really cannot buy that there wasn't a conspiracy. What were all of her reasons for coming to that conclusion, exactly, aside from those that you've listed here? O.o

You're very welcome. I realize my "review" isn't really that coherent if you haven't read it, but thanks for bearing with me. I'm not sure if I would have been quite so disappointed with it if it weren't considered the standard reference. I guess I just expected a more coherent argument ( ... )
