I'm going on vacation. (Seems 98% of my f-list has been on permanent vacation, ho-hum...) Anyway, just wanted to say I'd be out for awhile, taking the kiddies to see Shamu. Yes, I have liberal guilt about it. Would Shamu prefer being wild and free, rather than putting on multiple shows for tacky tourists? Probably. Maybe Shamu is a performer and a ( Read more... )

Hope you have a great vacation despite the moral conflicts that may ensue. And be sure to sit in the "splash" seats when seeing Shamu. It's just his way of getting back at "The Man". ;)

But yes, have a fab time, I quite enjoyed it. The show was good...got some cool pics....and pretty much wherever you sit except the back back you'll get wet.

Have fun. :) I haven't been to Sea World since I was a little girl, but I really loved it, so I'm sure your girls will as well. We'll be in the same state. :)

P.S. Definitely watch out for the "Splash Seats" because we being green sat in them and got sneezed on by a walrus. Try spending your whole day with walrus spit all over you. LOL.

Have a great vacation! Liberal guilt is the pits -- at work we don't have recycling, and everytime I find myself chucking some recyclable item in the regular trash, I have this horrible spasm of liberal guilt.

Sea World and the San Diego Zoo would have made you crazy. They were putting kids meals in reusable plastic lunch boxes, shaped like Shamu and in plastic animal buckets. 9/10 people are there on vacation and don't have room to pack the containers in their luggage home, so they ended up in the garbage. There was the occasional recycle bin, but they were few and far between and most ended up in the regular trash bin. Argg...
