Nov 02, 2009 09:17

dhewlett on twitter:

Okay, popular twitter consent seems to have me acting in a brewery...a Sci Fi beer nerd series? ...who am I to argue with my peeps!?
---
I could work in a pub! I'm not so keen on people, but I get along fantastically with beer! Perhaps that's my real job calling?

so, he wants me to write a Callahan's Crosstime Saloon'ish AU ( Read more... )

So is Rodney Mike, who "is always ready with a drink and a friendly word"? :D

He's actually a lot more like Doc Webster, who is very cranky and smart and mean. And a little pudgy. :)

John does remind me of Jake, the narrator. Dark past, plays guitar, wry sense of humor. More of an observer.

I haven't read those books, but the wiki page really makes me want too.

The library doesn't have it (I just checked their online search engine), but my favourite online bookstore does, and it's not that expensive... Hmm.

Someone will write something from this twitter. (NO NOT ME!) Though since Mr. Hewlett arrived here in the UK all I can wonder is what he thinks of some of our more potent real ales. Nothing like what comes out of a tin on that side of the pond! and Beer-Science is a perfectly reasonable study subject. You put that much science into Fair Trade (brilliant btw), why not a micro-brewery???? hmmm..... waves pointing stick at your muse.

Oh, I loved those books! If you write that AU, I'll give you, um, imaginary internet cookies!

I am not familiar with this universe (or anything involving pubs and beer), but I will wave pom poms in support of whatever that inspires you. :)

(You don't like puns? *curious*)

Oh I hate them so much. THEY ARE NOT FUNNY! But the rest of the AU could be. :))))

I have no idea what "Callahan's Crosstime Saloon" is, but a publican/pub-landlord I once knew really did hate people. There was a long (LONG) list on the door of reasons why he might throw you out. Heh. His pub, his rules. "No moblie phones, no trainers, no shorts, no shirts without buttons..." yadda.

I can see a DH character who has a nerd versions of those rules. "Can't come in unless you have at least an i-Pod and an i-phone... and preferably a Blackberry too" etc. A pub that is a nerd nirvana - with wireless internet, oh yes.
