ice is very nice when you have a minor bike accident. also, sleep has been tremendously beneficial.  alas, because I do not have a Service Lemur (©

Oh, I live in fear of breaking a thumb. If I ever did it would fuck up my climbing for a long time. I send you sympathy and good vibes for it healing well.

Also, I adore lemurs. That looks like a slow louris to me, though. Huh.

hmm you are correct...they are related to the lemur but several species of their own, apparently. that's what I get for trusting tumblr.

this is definitely not a good break for climbing! 100% do not recommend. :) but I have figured out how to shift gears on my bike using the heel of my palm, so all is well.

I have a thing for slow lourises. I saw them in the London Zoo and the video with the louris eating sticky rice is one of my favorites.

ARGH. I can't imagine cycling with a broken thumb. You're a braver person than me!

Oh no, poor thumb! I hope it heals quickly and smoothly, and that the number of things you can't do dwindles in size! ♥

thank you, my sweet! it could have been much worse, as I banged my head. I am grateful.

Ouchies!! I broke my left arm in three places, but was thankful that it wasn't the thumb. Even then it was hard to even do basic things like opening a can/jar or getting dressed, washing and brushing my hair, etc. I had to call a friend to change a light bulb in my bathroom. It was terrible. I wish you luck!!!

oh wow, three places! that must've taken forever to heal. doc is saying 5-6 weeks but it's already a lot less swollen and painful. woot!

It took surgery and two different casts. The first was a Z shaped up up and over my elbow. After 4 weeks, it was changed for a shorter one with my wrist slightly bent. After two weeks of that, it came off and I had to have sessions to rotate it and bend it again. Like I said, ouchies.

Even with all that, I know the thumb is really a pain if it's broken. We all take using our thumbs for granted because we use them for so much. Even holding a cup with that hand would be a challenge if not impossible.

ech, I'm familiar with casts and the PT aftermath. ligaments and tendons do not want! *pets you*

you should see me trying to drink from a cup now, tho. it's hilarious. I grab it like a chimp and tilt it back over my head. :)
