oh, hmm. my prose tends to be purely functional and not very pretty. I did write this snippet though, which was from Teyla's POV, and so a might more lavish. :)

Q!Because I'm always interested in how other people do this :) (I'm such a messy writer myself, though I do try to write from start to finish in some ways)

oh, I'm terribly rigid and write completely linearly. I would lose track of all my threads otherwise. There are very rare exceptions, e.g., when I add an in media res for the opener. But I don't know how people do a whole story out of sequence! I tried once and I couldn't make the tone of the scenes match up.

People with brains like that are a marvel to me. But then, it took me forever to learn object oriented programming as well.

Hey, I couldn't do programming to save my life, so I admire your brain for that! :) We all do things our own way, and one isn't better than the other. I've always looked up to you as a writer, still do (so in awe of your skills!), so clearly your way works for you, and brilliantly :)

(My bf writes more like you as well, nearly everything has to be thought out in his head before he even starts!)

eep, thanks. :)

Sounds like your bf has the same kinda brain. I pretty much have the whole thing worked out in my head before I begin. It helps, too, to have a meaty scene(s) I'm driving toward as my impetus for longer stories. Something really emotionally charged, in other words. For shorter pieces it's the climax, obviously. For longer stories, there's more than one. But I don't plot them out on a timeline or anything; the rhythm is much more organic than that and only happens when I'm finally writing.

B and C, just to be perverse. ;)

well, you only get one, and I replied to B on DW.

C. Is there a trope you wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole

I hate to say never about anything. But a happy, barefoot-in-the-kitchen mpreg? I can't see myself writing that. The mere idea gives me the willies.

P, please! And maybe AN for Foothold??? Pretty, pretty please??

you only get one, mon petit, but I will consider it.

P. If you only could write one pairing for the rest of your life, which pairing would it be?

That's really tough. I can't even stay in one pairing in SGA. :)) I suppose I should say John/Rodney but that feels really restrictive. I also like writing gen too much. :(

I figured it would be hard! And I totally missed the fine print saying i only get one pick! Uncool. Totally bogus.

I may be missing the beach more than I thought.

How would you want Foothold to be different? I should ask. It kind of ended the way I wanted it to, or I would have changed it myself. :)
