Oh, this is great! I love all of the layers of John, past injury and internet math and word puzzle nerd, coffee roaster, biking up hills and owning a cat and never realizing he has a whole coffee shop full of friends until the end. And I love, so much, when Rodney figures it out, the next morning at the coffee shop, how they're arguing about Douglas Adams and we get

"So? I like dolphins!" and "I really like you," Rodney said. so I can laugh and Rodney can melt my heart all in the span of a couple of lines.

It's like AU candy!
