[Near midnight, Saturday, August 7th]
[Day 433]I felt it last night, as I stalked the woods and tore into the heart of a young stag. Something powerful in the streets of the town, bloody and bright. I raised my jaws, dripping, from the steaming hole in my prey's side, and I grinned at the sky. A new player in town? Or an old player rising to

Don't know where I stand when it comes ta this.
Made a round, same as always, an' come back here when it's done. Noise I'm hearin' ain't enough ta make me worry, not just yet, but when I see who an' what's nosin' around I surely cannot say it improves my night any.

I look up at him and grin, shadow and ivory. The straw man. Oh, how my Gauekoentzat wanted to play with you, straw man. I wonder if you ever noticed.

Not at all. All you had to do was ask. I shift to one side, nose still to the ground, and let him explore. I'm assuming he's here for the same reason I am; someone was attacked here. He lived, at least long enough to be carried away, but he certainly wouldn't be in good shape.
"Miss Wanda not feedin' ya enough?" The straw man says as he hunkers down.
Even if I hadn't promised Verdandi, I wouldn't be sniffing around Wanda any more. Not so long as she's suckling Sugaar's whelp, anyway. Not going to risk breaking her so long as that's true, I'm a patient dog. Shouldn't take long for the pup to outgrow the bitch.
I drag my claws in the dust between the cobbles, sniffing hard. The attacker waited here....she, yes, definitely she. Ambush attack, lunged out, seized the man, and went to work. Just at random? Or was he a target?
