Kaeli's Apartment
Mid-day, Friday, 25 DecemberI spent the rest of Christmas Eve preparing a gift for Kaeli. It took me quite some amount of thought to figure out what to craft and nearly as long to actually craft it. I finished it well after the sun set but in plenty of time to have enough sleep. Jewelry crafting has never been my strongest

"Merry Christmas, stranger."
I smile at seeing her. I smile at the way she's dressed. I think I overdid it.
"Merry Christmas, Kaeli."
The urge to hug her is rather defined but I feel it would be too forward right now. Best to see where we are with one another.
"If I had known I was going to have company, I would have gotten dressed. How've you been, Cain? You look well."
"You look amazing," I say as I step inside.
It is quite comfortable in here, especially compared to outside. I haven't needed a winter coat before in Excolo. Perhaps it is time I procured one. I look around at the fiber and fabric littering the place and it makes me smile.
"It is quite festive in here." Turning to her, I add, "I hope you don't mind me intruding."

"You look amazing,"I blush a bit because I'm hardly dressed well and I haven't even showered yet. Its nice to hear though, just the same. "I do?! Look at you!" I laugh and plop down on the couch, feeling the heat of the fire warming my skin again. "You look wonderful, Cain." I say and wave off his mention of intruding. I laugh again, "No intrusion at all. Your company today is more of a gift than I hoped for. I like surprises," I say with a warm smile ( ... )

I smile at that and join her on the couch, shifting a skein of yarn out of the way before sitting. Her smile comes so easily, as does her laugh. Like it used to. It is nearly like I forgot.
"So what have you been up to lately? Would you like some coffee or tea? Dinner is cooking and I have plenty if you want to stay. I also have cookies and eggnog if you're hungry now."
I laugh and shake my head. "No, no. Nothing for me right now. I would be happy to stay for dinner, though. Unless," I add quickly, "you have guests coming." I glance at the apartment. "I suppose you do not," I say with a laugh.
"I have not been up to very much of interest lately. Working and living very near like a hermit. I felt it was time I stopped that nonsense and see my friends again."

"I hope his time has not been too occupied with doctoring," I say feeling my brows raise. I think he would be happier to have everyone well. "Have you thought of hiring someone on to help you?" I know Laurence was for a time and I'm sure that would help out.
I smile at him, still pleasantly surprised that he's here, though somewhat awkward that he's dressed so fine and I'm still in my night clothes. "Excuse me for a moment?" I rise from my seat and touch his shoulder as I head off towards my room. "I'll be right back."

"I have not," I say with a slight shrug. I grin at her. "Thank you for mentioning it. I think it would make things much easier." I laugh softly. "It was much easier when Laurence assisted me, even if only for the friendly talk making the work seem less."
"Excuse me for a moment?" She stands and I start to, but she touches my shoulder and says, "I'll be right back."
"Of course."
I watch her leave the room and allow myself to sink back into the couch. I laugh softly as a scrap of felt flops over onto my shoulder from behind me. Shifting it out of the way, I glance back over to where Kaeli walked to. It is certainly nice seeing her again.
