Afternoon of Day 67
I miss my building and my home and my family and my Fiona and Maryk, though he'll be back later. I give Lena an absent smile and nod when she brings me tea out on the porch. This house--this home is lovely, truly, but it still doesn't feel much like mine. The dreams continue, when I allow myself sleep. I do not know

The inn is quiet, and so I take the opportunity to walk over to Karina's new house. Rather a grand place. It starts drizzling, so I hurry over to the porch and see Karina sitting there.
"Karina, good afternoon," I say cheerfully. "How are you?"
Reply
"Valmont!" I say happily as I embrace him, placing a kiss upon his cheek. "I am well, Darling. How are you?" Stepping back, I motion to the other chair as I return to my own. "It has been a long time."

"I am well, my dear. And it has been too long. I brought you a gift," I say, handing her a rose plant I have repotted from my courtyard. "These are lovely in full bloom," I say. "Hopefully it will grow well in your garden. I'm sure Lena can take care of it," I add, since I doubt Karina is much disposed to gardening. I smile and sit down. "I wanted to congratulate you on buying your new house - and to ask about you leaving Follow Me Boy! That was a surprise."

"I wanted to congratulate you on buying your new house - and to ask about you leaving Follow Me Boy! That was a surprise." I smile a little sadly for a moment, but I push that back.
"Thank you, Darling. I suppose it was about time I moved on, eh? Miao, I think, can handle her." I laugh and add, "Besides, I am to become a respectable politician."

There's no school 'cause Miss Kaeli got hurt and I don't want to go outside 'cause the snake might be out there and I haven't seen Kitty foreverandever and I miss her even though I'm kinda scared and Daddy thinks I shouldn't play with her anymore. And things are all changed around at the Boy 'cause Aunt Vicky gave it to Miao and she moved out!! And it isn't right that Aunt Vicky doesn't live in her own house anymore and it's even not-righter that she moved in with Maryk and not Daddy 'cause they were supposed to be happily ever after ( ... )

"Wanda's a bright woman. And I think you'd make a good mayor. Strong business sense, used to dealing with people....Do you think the council would support you?" he asks and my shoulders rise in a shrug.
"I don't know, to be honest. Some of them will," I say as I think of Terence and Coral, "but I suppose it depends on who takes Reaves' seat." Then there's the pounding of little feet up the stairs and I grin as I stand, knowing it's my Fi. "Fiona!" I say as I gather her up in my arms. "How are you, my darling?" I ask as I smooth her wet hair and set her back down. I catch sight of Adonis looming at the foot of the stairs and I nod to him. "Hello, Adonis," I say a little cooler than I should.

"Hello, Miss Fiona," I say with a grin. "If I'd known you were coming I would have brought cupcakes." I nod at Adonis. He and Karina seem cool around each other today. I wonder if he's angry she's left the Boy. He's always carried a torch for her, I know.

Aunt Vicky's hugging me and I'm up in the air and everything's a little better now. "Oooh, I missed you!"
"Hello, Miss Fiona. If I'd known you were coming I would have brought cupcakes."
"Hello, Valmont!" I say it all polite and proper the way he does and then I go over to give him a hug too. "It's okay. Daddy says I can have cupcakes later."
"Hello, Adonis."
"Karina. Mr. Laclos." Daddy still sounds grumbly and he's not really looking at Aunt Vicky. I don't know why he's so mad except maybe 'cause he's getting rained on. "I need to pick up a few things at the general store. For the Boy. I'll be back in a little while."

But then I have to laugh because they're talking about me getting married! And that's not gonna happen for a million years. I used to think that Carmelo was handsome and that I'd want to marry him someday but he never talks to anybody anymore and who wants to marry someone who isn't friendly even if he does have pretty blue eyes?
"I'm not gonna get married forever!" I tell them, wriggling into Aunt Vicky as I start giggling. "But I'll tell you when I do."

"You'd better!" I say, glad Fiona's smiling again. "We'll make sure you have the biggest, sparkliest princess dress in the world, won't we, Karina?" I say. I sip my tea. "It looks like the rain is easing up a little," I note. "Hopefully it'll be dry enough for you to play outside later."

"I think you're right. That's reminds me--how are Mr. Tibbs and Snuffles?"
